Documentation

  • Select option A, if you are interested in the technical background of the software development.
  • Select option B, if you are a user of the virtual oscilloscope and need help with its configuration.
  • Select the bibliography for further readings.

Option A: Master's Thesis

The virtual oscilloscope has been created within the scope of a master's thesis at the Department of Communication Science at the Institute for Language and Communication of Technical University Berlin. The master's thesis documents the project, and in chapter 8 it contains all of the sourcecode of the simulation as well as a description of all images and sound elements. The sourcecode contains English comments. For compiling the project newly, you will need the original Macromedia Director movie file in addition to the sourcecode. Currently, this file cannot be provided for legal reasons.

You need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download), to be able to read the PDF-version of the master's thesis (German only, sourcecode comments in chapter 8 in English).

The website you are on is a derivative of the site shown in the master's thesis and may contain different or newer pages than described in the thesis.

Option B: Help Texts

All user surface elements (switches, wheels and more) of the simulation are equipped with context-sensitive help. Doubleclick on an element to read the according help file. You can read help files without starting the simulation.
